Hannah 
My name is Hannah, and this is my husband, Mark. We’ve been customers of Bluecoat Wealth Management for about 18 months, and we are looked after by David Langley.

Mark
I first approached Bluecoat Wealth Management because, with nearly 40 years working in the financial services profession, I knew a little bit about the financial world, but I was looking to obtain some professional and up-to-date advice, someone who could look after pension consolidation, but also deal with wills going forward.

I heard about Bluecoat Wealth Management, primarily because I wanted to deal with a local firm. Whilst both of us have worked in London, we live in Brighton, and we wanted to speak to somebody who was local and also had the ability to have a face-to-face meeting. So I looked at a few different local companies and spoke to a couple of them, and the approach that I got from David at the time sat well with me.

We chose Bluecoat because in the first meeting we had with David, he had a genuine interest in our lives: our children, how he lived our lives, and our lifestyle, and really kept that in mind with all the advice that he was giving us. There was a real element of trust because we opened up quite a lot about family life and what we like and expect, and he took that on board.

Mark
Since working with David at Bluecoat, I feel a lot more secure in our financial future and in the knowledge about what we need to do and when for our financial future. We’ve got a daughter at university and a son at college, so part and parcel of this process was understanding what our costs would be going forward, including when to retire, how I can retire, how Anna can retire, and when we need to make important financial decisions. Working with David has given us the confidence to make those.

Three words I would use to describe David are trustworthy, genuine – he’s got a genuine personality and is genuinely interested in helping and supporting us, and knowledgeable – he’s definitely knowledgeable in his field.

Mark
Over the time we’ve been working with David, the best piece of advice we’ve had is probably around the consolidation of my pension pots. I worked in commercial insurance for the best part of 40 years so I had a few different pots in different funds. They were consolidated, and it’s given me peace of mind that they’re all in one place and easy to manage.

Hannah 
I feel that working with David and the team has given me quite a surprising engagement with our finances. Mark has traditionally always taken the lead with them. We both work full time and we have busy lives, so I just let Mark take the lead on that area, but the way that Bluecoat have their app and advice, allows me to be more engaged and not overwhelmed.
